Rectal pain01/26/2009 |
I had a sphincterotomy about 15 months ago and have been pain free for 12 months. Recently I had a bout of diaherra and ever since I have had this burning sensation in the rectum. It is aggravated by bowel movements and sitting. Could the diaherra have torn the muscle or scar tissue from the prior surgery. There is no bleeding. some days are worst than others. My doctor seems to think that it is levitor syndrome. Doesn`t feel like a muscle spasm and when I take a muscle relaxer it doesn`t seem to help.
You could have a superficial fissure from the trauma to the anus caused by diarrhea. Consider using a steroid suppository for a week or so to promote a decrease in the inflammation. If this is not successful, see your surgeon for an exam.
