Black spot on x-ray01/29/2009 |
After receiving novacaine for a filling about a month ago my boyfriend noticed a swelling in his cheek and some persistent pain in the injection site. A few days ago he had an x-ray and there was a dark spot in the upper gum area. His dentist sent the x-ray to an oral surgeon and said surgery might be necessary, but would not say what might be wrong. Are we talking about a simple infection, or cancer here? We would be so grateful for any information on the possibilities. Thank you.
Without having a tissue diagnosis, it is not possible to say this lesion is benign, infectious, or malignant. Your surgeon should be the one to discuss the details of the diagnosis and treatment. Best wishes.
