Smoking: chest discomfort and shoulder pain

02/16/2009

Question:

I have been smoking for 3 weeks now and in this last week I have started feeling chest discomfort(not pain) and left shoulder pain only when I smoke it stops a few minutes after I finish my smoke, am I on the verge of having a heart attack or is it cause I`m just unfit? I am slim build, 20 years old and exercise rarely.

Answer:

Obviously, I've not examined you, so I can't tell what is causing your chest pain. And, because chest pain can be serious, a consultation with your doctor may be indicated. Maybe it's also worthwhile to listen to what your body is telling you about smoking. Huh?
