Allergies - mushrooms02/24/2009 |
My daughter has twice broken out with red marks, itchiness, swollen lips and joints. The most recent occurence, it seemed she ate mushrooms. Could this be the culprit? Also, what is in mushrooms that causes this and what other foods, etc. would contain this element that would cause the same reactions.
Many foods can cause allergic symptoms such as your daughter experienced. Foods contain specific protein allergens. Many of these have been isolated and are known as "allergenic epitopes".
