Occasional ecstasy lower sperm motility03/05/2009 |
My husband occasionally uses ecstasy (once every 2-3 months). My question is what effect will this amount have on his sperm count and sperm motility?
Thank you for your question. I am not aware of any reports about an effect of ecstasy on either sperm count or sperm motility. Ecstasy is a stimulant in the same broad class of drugs as amphetamine, meth-amphetamine, and cocaine.Some data indicate that when these other substances are used in an abuse- or addiction-type pattern, fertility can be impaired. Also, they can be associated with possible increased risk of birth defects.
