Colostomy reversal03/30/2009 |
I had emergency colon resection due to diverticulitis perf. I am gong to have a reversal very soon. My question is that my Dr. told me that he was not going to close the hole left from the stoma. Why is this? I going to his office this thurs. but, I`d like some more info.
Your surgeon will most likely leave the skin at the stoma site open so as not to seal bacteria under the skin, thus decreasing your risk for wound infection.
