Thumb sucker has a sore mouth roof04/07/2009 |
Our little guy who is 4 sucks his thumb at night and for his naps. For 2 days he complains of a sore mouth and cries from the pain on the roof of his mouth. We have found soft foods work better. We have been putting ambosol on it. I can see it looks "wrinkled" along the inside of his tooth line which is what I think is the pain area. Any other ideas? We have taped his thumbs so that he would be less apt to suck them. Is there anything else you would suggest or should we visit a dentist? Thank you.
Thank you for the question. I definitely recommend seeing a dentist. The pain may be coming from any number of sources - cavity/cuts in the mouth - and a dentist can perform a thorough examination. I would do this before taping your child's thumbs, etc.
Hope this helps.
