05/11/2009

Question:

my daughter who is going to be 7 in less than a month has beenrunning a fever off and on for a month now. we have taken her to the dr 4 times in the last month and a half. the last time we took her her white blood count was elevated, he treated her with antibiotic. she complains of headache, legs hurting, teeth hurting, body aches, coughing. she did have a tick bite two and ahalf weeks ago we removed the tick and treated the site with alcohol. there is no redness or tenderness at the site of the bite. her twelve year old brother had strep at the same time she had this. her strep test was negative. help!!

Answer:

It is possible that she had a virus or perhaps two different viruses over the course of the month.  If she continues to have fevers, she will require further evaluation by her primary care provider.
