Bursting veins in my left leg

04/30/2009

Question:

I started workin out running and squads after I started working out I experieced two veins that bursted in my leg and it looks and feels like a bruce. Also why only in one leg? Should I stop working out?

Answer:

Hello. This may be in response to a valve in the vein that is not functioning properly. Occasionally during strenuous exercise, an increased amount of blood can be returning to the heart from the legs. A bent position such as with weights or squats can temporarily compress the vessel causing it to bulge. If there are concerns, please have your doctor examine you. Good luck!
