Could I be allergic to my dentures?04/23/2009 |
On January 9th I had my teeth extracted and 10 implants placed in the bone(upper and lower)to hold dentures.Went to my Dentist and had my temporary dentures fitted with acrylic filling. One week later noticed a small rash area around belly button. As time has gone by it has gotten worse. On April 21st I broke out on my stomach, chest and was going up my neck in a itchy rash that burns severely. For 2 days I have not worn my dentures at all and the rash seems to have subsided. I use an adhesive to hold the dentures in place. What could be causing this rash?
Is very rare to be allergic to components and/or materials of the denture, but it is possible. Ask your dentist to request an allergy test by a dermatologist; then you will find out if you are allergic or not.
