05/04/2009

Question:

i have JME very brief jerks that lasts for less than 2 seconds iknow lack of sleep, stress, are triggers for jerks if these jerks are well controlled with medication and then due to severe lack of sleep and stress sometimes very brief jerks happen ,does it means that medication is not correct ,but when tyhere is no problem of sleep and stress they are well controlled with the same medication then wwhat does it mean

Answer:

Generally, we can use the presence of myoclonic jerks to help monitor the effectiveness of medications in JME (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy). If jerks continue on the current dose of medication then we may consider adjusting the dose of seizure medication to try and get better control.
