A1c and triglycerides05/08/2009 |
Hello,My doctor said my triglycerides is high because my A1c is high. Why does that happen?
That is short hand for saying that uncontrolled (high) blood sugars can be associated with a worsening of triglyceride levels. Improving blood sugar control, losing weight, minimizing alcohol intake and adding exercise are all measures known to improve triglycerides - sometimes they are sufficient to normalize them and sometimes other drugs or nutritional measures are needed to control them.
