Calcium in breast05/14/2009 |
I have to have a biopsy on one breast because they found a calcium spot about 8mm. Is this a large or small one? thanks
Without seeing the images or the report, I cannot comment. It is likely that it is a grouping of smaller calcifications over an 8 mm area. This is relatively small, but if the recommendation is for biopsy, it should be done. Sometimes these are done as a needle biopsy (called a stereotactic biopsy) or under ultrasound. Sometimes they are done in the operating room.
