Uterine biopsy

07/21/2009

Question:

I just had a uterine biopsy done on tuesday and the doctor said that i would have some cramps and spotting. Sice then I am having heavy bleeding and cramping as well as pain. I wasn`t given antibiotics after the biopsy nor numbing medicene before. I also was not told that i couldn`t take a bath and I went home within 3 hours of biopsy and took a bath. Is it possible that I could have a uterine infection or is this normal?

Answer:

It is possible, but unlikely that you would get an infection from taking a bath after an endometrial biopsy. Although unlikely, it would have come from the biopsy itself.
