I need your help06/02/2009 |
Dear,my boyfriend has a myasthenia graves..my question isdoes travel by plane is bad for him?? cause that what he told me ...please i need your answer ..
thank you
High altitude in an airplane can theoretically cause problems with pulmonary (lung) function, esp. in airplanes without good ventilation and oxygenation systems. The most important question for your boyfriend to ask is how serious is his myasthenia? Does he already have pulmonary involvement? If he does, then there is a risk that flying could worsen his breathing. If his myasthenia is that serious, he should be consulting with his physician before any airplane trips. It is also a period when a person might not be able to access appropriate healthcare providers if an emergency should arise.
