Diagnosis: Left Lower Lobe Infiltrate
I had a chest x-ray today that came back with left lower lobe infiltrate. My doctor knows I smoke, have chronic bronchitis, and COPD. Dr. prescribed a 10-day treatment of antibiotic and will follow up with another appointment for me in three weeks. Is there any possibility I could have lung cancer? I am really nervous about this. Three weeks seems like such a long time to wait to see if the antibiotics worked. Help!
It usually takes much longer than 3 weeks for an infiltrate to totally clear, so I don't think that's unreasonable. You may see some change by then, but it probably won't be completely gone by then.
I hope this helps.
