Bone manifestations of hemochromatosis07/06/2009 |
a patient with this disorder has had a nl liver bx, but a hip joint is affected -both clinically and on mri-femoral heaavascular necrosis. He lives in ohio-cleveland specifically. Should other joints be screened? Is there an orthopedist specializing in or with advanced knowledge of how this disease manifests in bone in the cleveland area?
Answer:
To my knowledge, no such relationship exists. You need to look elsewhere for causes. There are multiple other causes, but iron overload is not one of them.
