Renal Cortical Cysts07/16/2009 |
Is there a health risk if diagnosed with renal cortical cyst? Do I need to undergo surgery to remove it?
Just because you have a renal cyst does not mean it must be removed. Cysts increase in the general population as we age. Rarely a cyst can cause pain, bleeding or infection. What you need to know is how the cyst is described by the radiologist. If it is a simple cyst and you are not having any symptoms as noted above, then there is no concern. If it is a complex cyst then it may need to be monitored or removed, as complex cysts can sometimes undergo a malignant transformation.
