Perianal burning and subtle pain
I had LIS surgery for a chronic fissure 6 weeks ago. I now get a burning pain (which seems to be at the anus opening) and a dull rectum pain (on and off) that persists all day after a bowel movement. My surgeon thinks it is Levator Ani Syndrome. He has tried ibuprofen, dolobid, and prosac thus far to stop the pain. Nothing has really helped to stop the pain yet. I am using Marilax to keep my stool real soft because he thought the larger stool was twanging the levator muscle. Any ideas on how I can win this battle?
Levator ani syndrome sometimes responds to pelvic floor physical therapy or biofeedback. This are the only additional things I would suggest in addition to what has already been tried.
