Is it possible to have intracellular and extracellular diplococci as normal flora in a 3 year old child`s vagina? Thank you.
This is a difficult question. It is unclear why a vaginal specimen was obtained in a 3-year-old girl in the first place. It also depends on the specific case. I would consult a specialist at the institution where the cultures were obtained.
