Gum Surgery to Place Dentures?

08/18/2009

Question:

My mom had gum surgery a few mos ago and then had new dentures put in. Ever since then she moves her bottom jaw up and down about 5 times a day. when i tell her about it she says she can`t help it, but it`s annoying. There`s no sound to it, but it drives me nuts. What is this caused by, because before the surgery and dentures she has never done this ever.

Answer:

Thank you for visiting NetWellness. Unfortunately, you have not provided enough information for our experts to be able to provide you with an answer. It will likely require a dental visit to observe her movements to figure out what is going on.
