Ear noise after tonsillectomy09/03/2009 |
My 22 yr.old daughter had a tonsillectomy Dec.2008 for recurring strep throat. After the surgery she began have pulsating sounds in her right ear that keeps her awake and is very irritating to her. She has tried decongestants and diuretics prescribed by a physician. She is still having this problem and we don`t know what to do. Any suggestions?
I would see the doctor that performed the tonsillectomy. This may not be related to the tonsillectomy at all, but more of a coincidence. She may need a CT scan of the ears/skull base. She will also need an audiogram. The goal is to rule out anything dangerous or worrisome, such as a tumor.
