Conception

10/13/2009

Question:

dear Doctor, i m 25-year-old female who is married(3and half years) in 2006. i had conceived in may 2007 and abortion occured in june 2008 with bleeding/spotting, then i conceived in oct 2008 and delivered (full-term) baby boy in june 2008, but my baby soon expired after his birth due to Pulmonary hypertension and cardiac anomalies, just survived for about 4 hours- a new born death. it has been over 1 year after this mishap. now, we r trying to have a baby since 3 months, but there is no result! me and my husband underwent medical check ups in which everything is normal i.e. karyotyping, blood work up, etc.my question is why after trying so hard i m not conceiving? i m really desperate to have a child. pls help me to find out the problem.

Answer:

If you have not already had this done, you should have a hysterosalpingogram (an X-ray dye test) to make sure that your tubes are open, and your husband should have a semen analysis. You should then see a fertility specialist.

If these tests are normal, the next step is usually ovulation stimulation (with pill or injections) combined with intra-uterine insemination. Most 25-year-olds with normal tests who have already achieved pregnancy will become pregnant again on their own. However, ovulation stimulation and insemination will increase the chances each cycle.
