Rehabilitation

Achilles Rupture Surgery

11/17/2009

Question:

Can you please help. I am a 44 year old male, 22 weeks after Achilles Rupture surgery, with little or no rehabilitation to date. Please can you advise what exercises would be advantageous, and how long recovery normally takes to walk again.

Any advise would be truly appreciated.

Answer:

I cannot tell you specific exercises that would be helpful.  It is specific to the type of surgery you had and all the other factors that make you an individual.  I can tell you individuals with supervised therapy recover faster than those without or even those with just a general handout on exercise.
