Extrarenal Pelvis12/14/2009 |
My 21 yr daughter had a renal scan last week and was told today that she had an extrarenal pelvis. What does this mean and do we need to seek further medical attention?
An extra renal pelvis is a normal anatomic variant and generally requires no further work up. It can mimic obstructions to the kidney such as ureteropelic junction obstruction or hydronephrosis.
