Lumps and Bumps in Mouth
About two weeks ago i noticed a single white lump on my upper gums. Within 24 hours the single lump seemed to have spread, one more lump on the other side of my upper gums, as well as smooth clustery feeling bumps on the roof of my mouth. now i have small, clear looking spots in the back of my throat.
now, on my lips small white clusters of bumps have appeared and spread very rapidly(within 2 days) across my upper lips and the corners on my bottom lip. they can only be seen when i stretch my lips. they look alot like fordyce spots from what i have gathered on online searches. is it normal for fordyce spots to suddenly appear and spread quickly? i`ve never had them before.
I`m a 24 yearold female, smoke roughly a pack a week.
I went to a GP on tuesday but she couldnt tell me anything. the bumps have spread since then.
The lumps/bumps you describe sound like ectopic sebaceous glands or Fordyce granules as you mentioned. These bumps can appear relatively quickly, but it is possible that many were present for some time before you "discovered" the first ones. As you have read, these are relatively common and do not represent a problem or something that needs treatment.
The clear spots on your throat could represent collections of saliva or spit from small glands commonly found here and other places in the mouth. This appearance is also fairly common and considered normal.
I Hope this helps and thank you for visiting NetWellness.
