Vitamin D and Vitiligo03/02/2010 |
Hi, I have recently found out I am deficient in vitamin D. I have vitiligo (widespread). I forgot to ask the Doctor if maybe having vitiligo, may prevent me from absorbing vitamin D from the sun? Any clues?? Thanks
Vitiligo does not decrease one's ability to absorb vitamin D from the sun. Although one must take care with regard to sun exposure because vitiligo skin can get sunburned easily. Oral intake of vitamin D supplements and vitamin D rich foods is also a recommended means of obtaining sufficient vitamin D.
