is it possible that my 6 year old son who has cerebral palsy and cant eat food such as apples or anything hard, could he possibly have second teeth which cant come through because his first teeth are firmly in place due to him not eating hard food
Thanks for the question. Alterations in diet -particularly texture and ability to chew - can indeed affect how teeth erupt and are lost. If your child has a syndrome in association with his CP, there is a chance for extra (supernumerary) teeth. Also the gum tissue can sometimes become fibrous and delay teeth erupting. The best course of action is to have a thorough examination by a dentist. Hope this helps.
