Should we wait for CT or other action sooner01/26/2010 |
On a recent abdominal CT for ab pain, a nodular opacity was noted at the right lung base measuring approximately 9mm. The report said it may be a focal atelectasis or perhaps a neoplasm. A follow up of 3mos for another CT was recommended. This opacity was not there two years ago. Should I have a CT or some other follow up sooner as I had breast cancer 3 years ago (early stage, left breast lumpectomy, radiation only). Thank you
Usually, we would perform a dedicated chest CT if the nodule was seen on abdominal CT. Follow up is determined by the look of the nodule, your age and whether you are a smoker. 3 months is the usually follow up if our suspicion is low.
