Hello, Post nasal drip does not cause emphysema. Emphysema is the abnormal and permanent enlargement of the airspaces that are distal to the terminal bronchioles. Cigarette smoking is the primary cause of emphysema. It can also be caused by a hereditary deficiency in alpha 1-antitrypsin.
