Ear, Nose, and Throat Disorders

Clogged salivary gland

My daughter just turned 5 years old and her left salivary gland has been clogged/infected about 5 times now. Amoxicillian help bring it down until she gets it again a month later or so. What are my options? We saw an ENT and they said if they remove that gland there`s a possibility they can hit the facial nerve.

This is often a recurrent problem for which gland removal usually is not required. It usually will get better over time but this can be years. There is a relatively new procedure in children -sialendoscopy- in which one can look in the duct and possibly diagnose and treat the problem. Ask your doctor who might give a second opinion about this.
