I`m currently 32 weeks pregnant my baby has multicystic dysplaic kidney as well as truncus arteriosus. Can you give me any information to these, please?
A multicystic dysplastic kidney does not function. I am assuming that the other kidney is normal. If so, then the kidney function should be normal. If the other kidney is abnormal, however, then consultation with a pediatric nephrologist after your baby is born will be important.Truncus arteriosus is a birth defect involving the formation of the heart. These conditions often are associated with abnormalities of kidney development. Fortunately, with modern technology, most of these conditions are quite treatable. However, a multicystic kidney cannot be repaired. It usually shrivels up, but does not tend to cause long-term problems.
