I have a GPF of 8604/14/2010 |
Approximately how many years until dialysis, and is there any drug I could take to prolong this?
When you say "GPF," do you mean "GFR"? GFR = "glomerular filtration rate," which measures the ability to excrete waste products. If your GFR is 86, this is almost normal, and you may never need dialysis. Usually dialysis is considered for people whose GFR is 15 or below.
How long it takes to get to the point of needing dialysis depends on the person's age, gender, and the underlying cause of their kidney disease: diabetes, hypertension, etc.
