What is the cause of an itch in the far back of my tongue, near my throat opening? It occurs occasionally.
There are several possibilities that are difficult to distinguish without being able to look at the area. Since it is occasional, it is unlikely to be serious. If the itch persists or worsens, though, you should get an appointment to be examined by an ENT doctor (ear, nose and throat, otorhinolaryngologist).
