Level of Loss of Kidney Function04/28/2010 |
I`m male, age 72, and semi-athletic. Height/weight 5`11" and 172#. Recent blood tests showed " high out of range levels" for following: BUN 27, Creatinine 1.66 and GFR 41.Does this indicate a serious problem or potential problem with kidney function or possible onset of disease? Approximately what % of function has been lost or can it be determined from these ratios? Overall I feel OK, in good health and have no symptoms that I`m aware of.
Thanks!
Yes, there is a kidney problem that needs evaluation to determine if there is anything treatable, and if it is reversible. As it stands now the kidney function is less than half of normal. You should see a kidney specialist (nephrologist).
