Ground Glass Macro Lobulated Margins in Lungs05/20/2010 |
what do these terms mean? Thank you
Thank you for your question. The characteristics of a nodule (or spot) on the lung can assist in determining the probability of malignancy. Ground glass refers to an area that is not completely solid in appearance. Ground glass abnormalities can be seen with inflammation, infection and occasionally malignancy. Lobulated refers to margins of a spot that are less well defined rather than sharp or "spiculated".
