Tired Legs05/25/2010 |
My son has been complaining that one of his legs feels heavy and tired. He is very active, plays soccer, runs, bikes, etc. What could be causing this?
The possible causes for these symptoms are numerous, including circulatory (arterial or venous) problems, musculoskeletal problems (such as lower back or hip problems), or neuromuscular problems (involving the central [brain or spinal cord] or peripheral [nerve roots, peripheral nerves, or nerve-muscle junctions] nervous system, or involving muscle structure/function).
A medical evaluation (including a complete history, physical examination, and possibly diagnostic studies) by his physician is certainly appropriate, as may also be a referral to a neuromuscular physician specialist.
