Viral Pneumonia

Question:

I WAS HOPITALIZED FOR 25 DAYS DUE TO VIRAL PNEUMONIA AND HAVE A HISTORY OF COPD,I WAS PUT INTO A COMA FOR 10 DAYS AT FIRST AND AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AT 61yo NOW I WORRY ABOUT A RECURRENCE OF IT.IGET THE INFLUENZA SHOT YEARLY ALONG WITH THE N1H1 AND HAVE HAD MY 2 PNEUMOCCOCELE SHOTS BUT THOSE ARE FOR THE BACTERIAL TYPES,AM I AT GREATER RISK NOW IN DEVELOPING THE VIRAL AGAIN? OR OTHER STRAINS

Answer:

You might be at a greater risk for lung infections in general just because you have COPD; however, frequent hand washing, and being careful around sick people are some tips to follow. Also, be sure to exercise regularly, eat healthy and quit smoking if you are still a smoker.
