Healing After a Redo on a Root Canal

06/15/2010

Question:

I had a root canal done with a crown about 7 years ago, and the tooth recently became sensitive and I formed a blister type bump on the gum next to the tooth. I went to the dentist who then sent me to the specialist and he re did the root canal and put medication in the canal and has sealed it temporarily to let it heal. My question is how long should it take for the blister to go away? The tooth is feeling much better but I am concerned because the blister is not yet gone and it will be a week tomorrow that the procedure was done.

Answer:

It should go away within a few weeks to a month. Please speak with your endodontist if you have any concerns.
