Altitude Effects of COPD

Question:

my mother has recently moved to the mountains from a lower altittude and is in end stage of copd could this be speeding up the onset of the progression of this disease?

Answer:

No, this would not speed up the progression of her disease. However, her oxygen requirement might be affected and she may need more oxygen at the higher altitude.
