Ear, Nose, and Throat Disorders

Might I Have a Blister on my Uvula?

06/15/2010

Question:

Cold turned into bronchitis. As cough and sore throat worsened even on antibiotics, I noticed much of the pain comes from what looks like a blister on my uvula (or a white swelling half the size of the uvula). Can coughing cause this? Will it go away? Do I need to return to doctor?I am still on amoxicillin.

Answer:

Without seeing it, I cannot tell what it is, but it is unlikely that coughing caused this. It is more likely that this was due to the infection. If you still have pain or the lesion, I would definitely recommend seeing the doctor.
