Pharmacy and Medications

Tylenol 3`s and Atasol 30`s

07/02/2010

Question:

I went to the drugstore today with a script for Tylenol 3`s and the pharmacist told me that they were the same as Atasol 30`s. Is this correct and how much acetaminophen is in Atasol 30`s?

Answer:

Atasol 30 is marketed in Canada. It is a combination of acetaminophen 325mg, codeine 30mg, and caffeine citrate 30mg (equivalent to caffeine 15mg).  In Canada, Tylenol with Codeine #3 contains 300mg of acetaminophen, 30mg of codeine and 15mg of caffeine.  Atasol 30 is similar, but not exactly the same as the Canadian version of Tylenol with Codeine #3.  Atasol 30 contains 25mg more Acetaminophen than the Tylenol with Codeine #3
