Elevated Liver Enzymes and Diet07/06/2010 |
My pregnant daughter (36 weeks) has slightly elevated liver enzymes and was prescribed a high protein diet of 100-150 grams of protein aily to help reduce it. Doesn`t protein add increased work to the liver?
A high protein diet in itself, in the face of a “normal” liver, should be fine.
It is not unusual to have slightly higher liver enzymes during pregnancy.
I would suggest speaking with your OB about this in more detail. Without seeing the extent of the elevations, it is difficult to say much.
