Abnormal TSH level
Hi. Recently I did my TSH test and the result is 17.44. Is it toooooo bad?? When I started taking Thyronorm 50Mg it was 9. I completed 3 months course of Thyronorm and did blood test after 15 days and now it`s 17.44 I read few articles about hypothyroidism & about Pituitary Gland and Pituitary Gland Tumor. Do need to go for an MRI??
1. A TSH of 17.44 represents a mild degree of thyroid underactivity, not a severe degree.
2. I don't understand exactly what you did. Did you take Thyronorm for 3 months, stop it for 15 days, and then check the TSH? Usually once you start Thyronorm you have to take it for the rest of your life.
3. You do not need an MRI. The high TSH tells us that your pituitary gland is working fine. It's your thyroid gland that isn't working right.
