I recently had a chest xray and was told that I have a linear opacity in my right lungs.Is it dangerous? what would be the treatment?
It is really tough to say without seeing the films. However, linear opacities are very common in the lung and usually are one of two things. First is a scar from previous pneumonia that has healed. Second is just an area of lung that is not fully expanded, possibly because the patient did not fully take a deep breath or they were in pain or have extra mucous from a cold or asthma. In general, these linear opacities are not a specific disease and certainly not cancer but are a sign of something else that has occurred.
