Nosebleed10/01/2010 |
My 5 yr old daughter has been waking up with a stuffy nose plus some blood mixed in with mucus. We have tried the humidifier but works to no avail. We have pumped saline into her nose, and that does not seem to work either. We do not know what else to do. Can you help.
It is very common that some blood cells leak into the mucous when cold symptoms are present, and this should resolve once the cold is over. Good hydration and extra humidity, especially at night, are helpful in easing general discomfort from tender mucous membranes during colds.
If you feel the amount of bloody discharge is excessive, contact your pediatric health care provider.
