Chipped Tooth09/28/2010 |
Why can`t my chipped bottom teeth hold a filling? I don`t want to have them pulled, but they are flaking in the back.
I have heard this question many times from my patients over the years. I could answer your question much better if I could see your teeth, but hopefully my general comments will be helpful. Lower front teeth are difficult to "fill" or "bond" because they are so small. Your dentist wants to be conservative and not take too much tooth structure away.
Back teeth fillings could be chipping for many reasons, including that the fillings are too large and you really need crowns. Please ask your dentist about this or get a second opinion if you are not comfortable with the answers you receive.
