My son`s high school football team is plagued with ankle injuries. My husband said that the trainer taped all players ankles prior to play. Would that be a good idea or did they stop that practice for a reason.
The decision on whether or not to tape players before activity is the result of a number of factors. Athlete preference, resources of the school, and having a qualified person available all play a role in how teams prevent ankle injuries. Many schools utilize ankle braces for their athletes. They are more cost effective, last much longer, and are easily applied. Most schools use a combination of taping some athletes and having the rest utilize ankle braces. Good Luck!
