E. coli in the Lungs
How does someone get E. coli in their lungs? Is this condition contagious?
In general, the idea of contagion has also to do with how susceptible one is to getting infection. For most people with otherwise normal immune systems, an infection like E. coli in the lungs would not be contagious. However, some people with very suppressed immune systems may be able to “catch” something that others would not. It is for this reason that we typically advise people with suppressed immune systems to avoid people who are sick. Hope this helps.
