Eating Before Dental Procedures
MY DENTIST INSISTS THAT LOCAL ANESTHESIA DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY IF I HAVE NOT EATEN BEFORE AN APPOINTMENT. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE REASON I WAS HARD TO NUMB AND DID NOT STAY COMPLETLY NUMB DURING THE FILLING WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT I HAD SKIPPED BREAKFAST. HIS FURTHER EXPLAINATION WAS THAT MY BODY WAS MISTAKING THE ANESTHESIA AS FOOD AND WAS PROCESSING IT MUCH TOO QUICKLY. IS THIS TRUE? IT SOUNDS A LITTLE FISHY TO ME
An interesting theory but I cannot see any scientific validity to it.
